Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTEPHEN DANIEL PAUL (PAUL) DEVIAENE
Sadly, Paul’s family is announcing his unexpected passing on Sunday, April 19.
Left to mourn are sisters Barbara, Donna (Brent), and brothers Donald (Bonnie), Louis and Lorne as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Paul was predeceased by his parents Jean and Stephen, and younger brother Michael.
Paul aspired to become an architect and studied Environmental Sciences at the University of Manitoba. A limited enrolment in the architecture program took him to Red River College where he trained as a draftsman. He worked for Vipond, a fire protection company for most of his professional career. In his early years with the company, he worked on the Museum of Civilization in Gatineau and the Parliament building in Newfoundland. Throughout his life he continued to recount fond memories of those work experiences.
As a child he was always building something in the backyard. This desire to build continued into adulthood and in the 1990’s, he, along with his father and brothers, built a cabin for the family at Big Whiteshell Lake. The cabin will stand as a lasting part of his legacy and will hold many fond memories for years to come.
Paul played football as a youth and was a lifelong fan of the game. He enjoyed watching the Blue Bombers with his brothers and had season tickets for many years. He had an eclectic knowledge and interest in things that spanned the gamut from old movies to military vehicles. Over the years he shared his home with brothers Michael and Louis as well as three cats. His cats held a special place in his heart. He leaves behind Taz, who is no doubt confused by his sudden absence.
Paul experienced many health issues over the past two decades and his failing health prevented him from living life more fully. Now his struggle is over.
Rest in peace dear brother.
A special thank you to Louis who became his caregiver these past few years.
